Music Video Series: Where Have You Been?

I haven’t done one of these in a WHILE but it’s the first video in a long time who’s fashion and style spoke to me. When I heard that Rihanna wanted this video to be filled with dancing (don’t be fooled by flash cuts, RiRi can’t dance all that well people) as a dancer and choreographer, I was a little worried. But then I saw the video.

The dancing isn’t as revolutionary as it was talked up to be (except the scene where they become a big blinking eye, LOVED THAT!) but the visuals were doing it for me and for Rihanna, that was more dancing from her than I’ve EVER seen. I loved the Loch Ness leather mermaid opening look and the jewel cross mask outfit and can we take a moment to gush over all the nautical jewelry?!………moment over.

Overall, I really like this video but I didn’t expect it to be so ethnic/tribal. I thought it would be a very SOS/Don’t Stop The Music looking video but I like this idea better. Could have thrown a leading man in there though.

RiRi lost me with her last 2 albums, and the photoshoots she’s been doing lately haven’t been as good as I would like but this month’s Elle rendered a very good photo spread. When I opened the actual magazine, I wasn’t blown away (the covers AMAZING) but then I realised some of the best photos weren’t used.
