Music Video Series: Work ft. Missy Elliot

By Ciara

To date, one of my favorite dance videos, choreography, and songs by Ciara. I hate that it wasn’t more popular because I can guarantee if this song came on in the club (also a lyric in the song) I would absolutely lose my mind!

This was Ciara’s short lived but visually stunning turn away from her urban roots and into dance tracks and high fashion. I enjoyed thoroughly.

Trend Talk #5

So, I decided to get all of the hair trends done at once, so i’m posting the last (for now) Trend Talk about hair. I’ve always loved the Pompadour in all of it’s incarnations. Started by Madame de Pompadour and popularized by Elvis Presley, many people have adapted it for their own needs. Essentially, it’s a hairstyle that consists of an upraised bouffant at the front of the head. It has been recently nicknamed “The Poof” by Snooki of “Jersey Shore”, but when done right, can look incredible chic. Whether you keep the back straight, in a ponytail, or pin it all up, the Pompadour looks good on both men and women. Personally, I prefer it paired with shorter hair.

Trend Talk #4

Get off your high horse and on to this trend. It’s by no means new and has been around for sometime but I’ve yet to see any woman look wrong in this style that’s so definitely right. It’s the ponytail. Not any run-of-the-mill pony, but the high ponytail. Chic and sexy, strong and powerful, the high ponytail screams control. It showcases the gorgeous contours of the face and let’s the world see the details of the garment you’re wearing, while keeping hair away from the face. Now, when it comes to high ponytails, I’m very specific about which one I’m talking about today. What goes on in front is no consolation to me (although smooth is preferred), it’s all about the actual tail. It ought to be long and sleek. If it’s necessary, add some length to it, but keep it straight- no curl, no wave.

Trend Talk #1

Everyone has that one trend they’re happy is hot again. For me, it’s short hair on women. I find that alot of girls rest on their long hair, as if having long tresses make them more attractive. They spend countless dollars on ratty extensions that are clearly not natural. For me, short hair represents sex appeal and confidence. It takes a strong women to be able to pull off short hair and when I say short, I mean SHORT! Now, many straight men would disagree since most like long hair, but what the hell do straight men know about fashion? Short hair gives women a light, easy look, while showing off the gorgeous contours of their faces. Maybe it’s my love of androgyny that makes me love this trend, but whatever it is, I hope it lasts a little bit longer. So you tell me, how do you feel about short hair on women?
