CONCRETE RUNWAY

When the streets are your runway......

PROJECT RUNWAY FINALE FAVORITE #2- Joshua McKinley

He ended up being runner up and once again, I don’t agree with the winner. I have LOVED Anya from the very beginning but I don’t think she served anything new or fresh during the finale, whereas Josh did and I feel he should have won. His personality was abrasive and he got annoying very quickly but his work trumped Anya’s. I didn’t like all of the colors he used in his collection and I’m still on the fence about the laced bike shorts but overall his collection was my favorite. Also, I didn’t love the fabric he used for his long dresses.

And even though we didn’t get to see it, I loved Olivers final collection as well: http://allprojectrunway.blogspot.com/2011/09/olivier-green-spring-2012.html

PROJECT RUNWAY FINALE FAVORITE #1- Viktor Luna.

I really enjoyed Viktor’s collections. I loved the prints he used, the edginess, the pearl moto jacket. It wasn’t without it’s flaws though. I didn’t love the sheer button up (but I love the leather skirt) and I also didn’t love the top on the final outfit. I preferred the original finale dress and jacket he had before they he decided to listen to Michael and change it.

Project Runway Season 8 Finale

Ok, let’s just get to the heart of the matter. Firstly, I always wanted the final 3 to be Mondo, Andy, and April, but that unfortunately didn’t happen and instead they chose Gretchen (ugh!) over April. I also think that, although not the strongest throughout the show, Michael C’s collection looked stunning.

Based on what was presented at Fashion Week, I don’t think Gretchen deserved to win. I’m not gonna say she didn’t deserve to win period, but not on the merit of the collection that was shown. I understand she needed the money and everything, but every single person on that show had something to lose and, at the risk of sounding like a bitch, but this is not a charity, you need to work to get ahead. Plan and simple, it was boring, the patterns were disgusting, the cut of some of the pants and shorts were awful, and the color palette was like some odd snake on a winter safari with a suitcase full of Urban Outfitters clothing.

I agree that Andy’s was not the strongest, which was unfortunate because I really liked Andy in general. I thought the headpieces he put on the models were exquisite and chic. I would love to own one. I do think that his colors were too matchy matchy and repetitive, but his designs gave me a little more excitement than ….*ahem*….. other designers.

I absolutely ADORED Mondo’s collection. It was fun, fashionable, new, and I enjoyed watching it. I think, contrary to what Nina i’m-a-stuck-up-bitch Garcia said, I think Mondo toned it down a a lot, especially when you look at some of his old work. Not to mention, there are tons of other designers, like Anna Sui, who use prints and bold colors and she’s doing quite well for herself. I think Mondo was robbed. He deserved to win. Plain and simple.

So here’s the WINNING collection:

Oh and since I don’t have another opportunity to say this but, Ivy, you’re a spiteful, bitter bitch. You should not have said anything to Michael because it was in the past and there’s nothing that could be done at that point. Also you clearly said it to start an argument but was not woman enough to hear words back. That’s all. Auf Wiedershen!
