SPRING/SUMMER 2013 TREND TO WATCH:

TORTOISESHELL- The new chic and sophisticated accessory trend for the summer is tortoiseshell. Imagined in bags, shoes, jewelry, and even bustiers (i’m looking at you McQueen!) Tortoiseshell is the new and classy animal print that every urban fashion warrior should own.

Ok quick rant! When I first heard Givenchy wasn’t doing couture for a while, I died on the inside. Givenchy is the couture collection I look forward the most especially since Riccardo’s aestethic is close to my own. After I stopped weeping and pulling my hair out over this decision, it was time for the Fall 2013 collection and I waited with breaths bated for my Givenchy fix and when it finally came, I wasn’t super impressed with Givenchy Fall 2013. It was good but Givenchy basic. I’ve seen it from Riccardo before. It was basically a mashup of his Fall 2011 and Resort 2013. Now on to McQueen. I checked every day for the McQueen updates and my heart dropped when Sarah only gave us 10 looks. I get it, she’s pregnant but come on! The looks we did get were brilliant and I loved them but right when I got a taste, she snatched the plate away. I’m giving you very dirty looks Mrs. Burton. Now new designers- I loved Alexander Wang’s debut at Balenciaga. When it was first announced he would be taking over, I was sad cuz I loved Nicolas G. but I always knew he would do a good job and he did. He made the label his own but I could definitely see the Cristobal B influences. And I NEED the crackling paint jacket! And on to Hedi’s second womenswear collection for Saint Laurent. I loved the first gothic inspired collection, it was very me and I loved this one as well! Who knew 90s California grunge could be so fucking chic! LOVE!
